We’ve Made Our View on Windows 10 Quite Clear
It Is Unfinished Business & A Royal Pain in the Ass
It serves us little to reiterate the countless blogs on the subject or repeat what we’ve announced in our own company newsletters.
Instead, let us offer you ways to mitigate some of the trouble it is causing, along with the caveat that it is indeed better than Windows 8 and does have a handful of excellent features.
Or, as our Andy Pizer repeats – “Windows 10 is just a service pack for Windows 8 that was released prematurely”.
If you decided to upgrade to the Windows 10 you will know that each time you use your machine, it might work differently than it did the last time. As one blogger observed, Windows 10 is like a box of chocolates: You don’t know what you’ll get. You will also know that Windows 10 crashes frequently and pushes out buggy updates that are causing machines to boot loop. Furthermore, Microsoft has stubbornly refused to explain what the updates even contain and shows a complete lack of transparency in explaining their actions.
Our co-workers have put together the following instructions to navigate you through the latest Windows 10 update problem, which forces automatic updates upon you.
Remember, Microsoft’s goal is to force all of us to use Windows 10. They have now made Windows 10 a “recommended update’ for Windows 7 and 8 users. Read this article to understand how the operating system upgrades will download automatically if automatic updates are turned on.
No worries- we are here to tell you how to stop the automatic update.
Introducing the GWX Control Panel – a free tool that can remove and disable Windows 10 notifications
Remove and disable the ‘Get Windows 10’ notification area icon on Windows 7 and Windows 8. Recent versions can also disable ‘Upgrade to Windows 10’ behavior in the Windows Update control panel and do much more.
Steps to use the GWX Panel (Windows 10 update removal tool)
- Download the program from our website.
- Run the program, agree to the End-User License Agreement, and click continue.
- On the main window Click the option “Disable ‘Get Windows 10’ App (permanently remove icon)” to remove the Windows 10 Icon from the Notification area.
- Next, click the option “Disable Operating System Upgrades in Windows Update” To prevent Windows 10 from being installed automatically via windows update as Microsoft has made it a recommended update. The GWX Panel will ask to restart your computer for the changes to take effect. Please restart the computer at your earliest convenience
