Data Transfer and Recovery As our highest priority, we value and respect a client’s privacy. Any data that is transferred from your hard drive will remain on our data machine for up to 1 month to insure that you have access to it. Beyond that time, we will remove and destroy any and all related data. We try our best to recover data and typically we triumph--but it is not always possible. Sometimes a hard drive may be physically broken or altered so that no data can be retrieved. In some cases, we can retrieve only portions of data depending on the problem.
Category 1: Our level one category is called Data Transfer. We remove the hard drive from your computer and hook it up to our data machine. Meticulously we extrapolate the data from your hard drive onto ours. Then we create disks or transfer it straight onto a new hard drive- depending on your instructions.
Category 2: Our second level category is called Data Recovery. This level is used if the hard drive is not performing within a high end tolerance level. The hard drive is removed from the computer and placed into our data machine. We use other operating systems like Linux to retrieve data and sometimes other methods as well. Think of it as brain surgery…careful and painstaking. Once data is recovered, we create disks or transfer it straight onto a new hard drive.
Category 3: Our highest level category is the most extreme. The third level requires a clean room environment. The hard drive is taken apart and re-assembled into a new drive. This level of process is very time consuming and delicate. We recommend this level only for those whose data is so vital that its value correlates with the expense of the process. This procedure runs from $500-$15,000, depending on how problematic the damaged drive is and how long the process takes. If you have any questions about data recovery or transfer contact us.
